Prof. M. Turan Söylemez is a full professor in the Department of Control and Automation Engineering at Istanbul Technical University (ITU), Turkey. He received his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees from ITU, and his Ph.D. degree in Control Engineering from the Control Systems Centre at UMIST (now the University of Manchester), UK, in 1999.

He has been a faculty member at ITU since 2000, serving in the Electrical Engineering Department and later in the Control and Automation Engineering Department. He also served as a visiting lecturer at Yeditepe University between 2000 and 2003.

His research interests include robust control, PID controller design, systems with time delays, and railway control systems. He has published extensively in leading journals and conferences, with over 120 research outputs. He has supervised numerous Ph.D. and M.Sc. students.

Prof. Söylemez has served as the Chair of the Railway Systems Engineering Department at ITU's Graduate School of Science, Engineering and Technology, and as the General Secretary of the National Conference on Automatic Control (TOK). He is also a member of the ABET Board of ITU.
